Past Festivals - 1998

This two day event will look at the history of British Film before the coming of sound, bring together cine-historians, collectors, students and aimed at anyone interested in British cinema of this period. Guest speakers will present illustrated talks on a variety of topics - from silent British comedy to cinemagazines, from cartoons to WWI films. There will also be a focus on the silent films of Alfred Hitchcock and silent stars such as Betty Balfour.

The weekend will include rare screenings and extracts of British silent films that have not been shown for decades, together with complete screenings of THREE classic British silents, with live piano accompaniment.
